Feel the love in these romantic destinations
Posted: February 2023
Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, a mini-moon or birthday treat, or even just because… We’ve picked some of our favourite romantic city break destinations to provide the perfect backdrop, whatever your love story.
Whilst it’s known as the city of love, Paris (a staggering one in 500 proposals each year take place there) it’s not on our list for 2023. We wanted to give you some alternative ideas to make your next prize promotion really stand out in the crowd.
Edinburgh
Often overlooked for romance, Edinburgh is the perfect city for a romantic break. With cosy pubs on every corner and with some of the UK’s oldest architecture on display, Edinburgh offers picture perfect backdrops at every turn. Whether you fancy a romantic stroll up to Arthur’s seat for unparalleled views over the city or an indulgent spa day at the gorgeous Rocco Forte Wellness at the Balmoral hotel, it’s a city with romance in the air. If food is your love language, grab a table for two at one of the Times top 20 sexiest restaurants The Stockbridge restaurant, home to a number of proposals each year due to it’s truly romantic atmosphere.

Seville
It’s hard to think of a more romantic place than Seville, with its perfuming orange trees, cobbled streets, beautiful parks, and authentic tapas restaurants: it’s the perfect European destination to whisk your loved one off their feet. Sometimes the simplest of things can be the most romantic and a stroll round Parque María Luisa encapsulates that perfectly, why not head there for a dreamy picnic lunch to enjoy in the shade. When night falls, Seville glows a soft warm gold, with buildings like the Torre Del Oro lit from within making the evening glide for tapas even more magical.

Seychelles
I know, I know, it’s not a city break… but if you’re looking to really impress with somewhere further afield, love is always in the air in the Seychelles. One of the most romantic destinations on the planet, this 115-island archipelago sits serenely in the Indian Ocean, about 1,800 kilometres off Africa’s east coast. With its tropical climate, magnificent scenery, crystal clear waters and jungle covered hills there is no question why these remote islands are a favourite for honeymooners around the world.
The Seychelles is also a popular destination for the eco tourist as it has one of the highest percentages of protected land in the world and is even working towards being the first carbon neutral reserve in the world.
